Phase 1

Mouth-Operated Assistive Tools

We began by designing and prototyping mouth-operated devices for individuals with severe upper-limb paralysis, including quadriplegia.

This work helped us deeply understand accessibility, dignity, and the realities of building assistive technology in healthcare settings.

What We Learned

Through conversations with nurses, PSWs, rehabilitation professionals, and care facilities, we learned that the greatest unmet needs were not always where we initially expected — and that access, regulation, and daily caregiving realities matter as much as technical innovation.

Phase 2

Expanding the Scope

Today, Colibri is expanding its research into wearable muscle-assist systems designed to support people with reduced strength, fatigue, or mobility — including seniors, people recovering from injury or surgery, and anyone who needs extra physical support in daily life.
